Where Does My Donation Go?
Locally, seventy-seven cents of every dollar spent by the Greater Chicago Red Cross is invested in humanitarian services and programs. In 2006 the Red Cross provided the following services to the Chicagoland communities:
- Provided financial assistance to 1,000 families following a disaster
- Taught over 250,000 people how to perform a lifesaving skill such as first aid and CPR
- Deployed hundreds of volunteers to provide relief in response to flooding, tornadoes and other disasters throughout Chicagoland, the state of Illinois and across the country.
- Relayed 3,345 emergency messages for nearly 7,000 members of the military and their families around the world, helping them stay connected to family members during a difficult separation.
In addition, the Greater Chicago Red Cross also offers the community the chance to learn first aid, CPR and other health and safety skills that will help keep you safe. We provide emergency communications for military families and offer assistance to those trying to locate family members during local and international disasters.
Your generous contributions help victims of over 1,000 disaster incidents, across Chicagoland communities, each year by providing:
-
Food
-
Clothing
-

Disaster Relief Funds
Local Disaster Relief
You can help the victims of hundreds of local disasters that happen in your community each year— disasters like home fires, floods, winter storms and tornadoes—by making a financial gift to the Greater Chicago Red Cross Chapter. Our chapter works in your community, responding to an average of 3-4 local disasters every day. The Local Disaster Relief Fund allows us to provide shelter, food, couseling and other assistance to victims of disasters in the Greater Chicago area, which serves Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.
National Disaster Relief
The National Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) works to help people across the United States during times of disaster. To learn more about supporting this fund, click here.
