The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago needs you!
As an independent, non-profit organization, we do not receive government funding. Instead, we rely on the generosity of individuals and companies. Each year the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago conducts a number of different events throughout the Chicago region, and all of these programs rely on the generous support of our community corporations. With your support, we provide disaster relief, First Aid and CPR training, funding for HIV/AIDS education, community disaster education and more. A few of these programs include:
-
CPR Training Days – The largest community safety training event in the region at which 2,000 people become trained in basic CPR.
-
Kid Firestopper – High School students and AmeriCorps volunteers present a fun, interactive fire safety program to over 9,000 elementary students in the Chicagoland Area.
-
Heroes Breakfast – This premiere annual breakfast boasts 400 attendees, and recognizes and raise public awareness about volunteers and local heroes who carry out the mission of the Red Cross every day.
-
Team Firestopper - The Red Cross wants to help stop fires before they start. Not every fire can be prevented, but all homes can be made safer. Team Firestopper volunteers conduct home safety makeovers to 400 homes (100 homes in each community).
-
Un Sábado por la Vida – This event gives the Spanish-speaking community the necessary skills to avoid tragedy and help injured children. This free event enables certification in child CPR so people can better provide care for children ages one to eight. Participants also learn choke-rescue skills.
-
WHALE Tales – Water Habits are Learned Early (WHALE) is a water safety class for children, which provides easy-to-follow information to help children learn safe behavior in and around the water.
